The President of the Republic expressed his confidence that Estonian-Lithuanian friendship ties are strong and our will to maintain our good relationship is unshakable.
''Being aware of our responsibilities we have together taken steps towards the accession to the European Union and NATO, and by today we are members in both of those organisations. The success of any one Baltic state is also the success of the other two. And so, supporting each other, we should see our relations also in the future, in much wider and more comprehensive framework,'' the Head of State said.
President Rüütel wished that cooperation and friendship between Estonia and Lithuania would find ever more new and inspiring ways of expression that would bind our nations together in today’s rapidly changing world.
