All participants in the meeting were of one accord that our state has one single foreign policy that is implemented by different institutions in accordance with their duties and responsibilities. The near future priorities of Estonia's foreign policy are targeted at achieving the membership of the European Union and NATO, which at the same time will be helpful in striving for the rest of our objectives, developing partnership with our neighbouring countries included.
The President agreed to the common position of the Foreign Affairs Committee that Estonia, while striving for its objectives, should continue the existing close co-operation with the other Baltic states. The partners in the talks also shared the view that the citizenship and language issues should not be exploited for propagandist purposes during the election campaign.
