The President of the Republic noted that in recent years big changes had taken place in Estonia. "We have been busy reforming and modernising our society for more than ten years and by now Estonia has become a member state of the European Union and NATO. This new situation considerably expands the scope of our international relations and intensifies ties and cooperation also for more distant countries," the Head of State said.
The Ambassador of Mexico said that Estonia and Mexico shared many common interests in international organisations, especially so since Estonia acceded to the European Union. "Mexico has witnessed the rapid development of Estonia in transition to a market economy since the restoration of independence. But also in the field of information technology," Ambassador Enrile added.
