According to the President of the Republic, the history of Estonian-Angolan relations was rather short, but our relations had been friendly, both sides promoting them respecting each other's interests. President Rüütel found that, for the purpose of expanding mutual knowledge and deepening contacts, our relations definitely needed to be intensified.
According to the Estonian Head of State, these days, the long geographical distance between Angola and Estonia was no big obstacle any more because, pursuing common interests, we were able to take joint action in several international organisations uniting Estonia and Angola.
The Ambassador of Angola expressed delight at the honour of being the first representative of the Republic of Angola to the Republic of Estonia, and voiced his hope that a new stage in developing and strengthening friendship and cooperation between the Republic of Estonia and the Republic of Angola would start.
