President Alar Karis will be travelling to Warsaw today to meet with his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda.
Celia Kuningas-Saagpakk, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the President of the Republic, says that the aim of President Karis’ introductory visit is to maintain good relations with Poland, which is an important partner to Estonia as well as a strategic ally. “Estonia and Poland share a similar outlook on security, and our two countries work closely together bilaterally, regionally and as part of NATO and the EU,” Kuningas-Saagpakk said. “During their meeting, President Karis and President Duda will be focussing on security in the region, transatlantic cooperation and the situation in Belarus. Not only does Poland play an important role in security, but also in energy and transport links in our region.”
While in the Polish capital, President Karis will also be visiting the Estonian embassy and giving an interview to the Rzeczpospolita newspaper.
The head of state will be returning to Estonia tomorrow.
