President Karis said that the path to successful progress was via cooperation. “Sweden is one of the greenest and most innovative countries in the world,” he remarked, “while Estonia is one of the world’s first truly digital societies and a land of unicorns and big ideas. Both our countries are tech-friendly and well placed for the implementation of new solutions in the real world.”
The head of state noted that like Sweden, Estonia has set the green transition as one of its technological innovation priorities. “We are very happy to share our experience, and at the same time we hope to learn from Sweden’s experience,” he said. “Sweden is an attractive export market for Estonian companies, but the role it plays in our exports is even bigger thanks to direct investments and trade ties that allow companies to export to other markets.”
President Karis added that the close ties between Estonia and Sweden were not only driving growth in the economies of both countries, but also reinforcing regional and global security.
Speeches were given at the business forum by Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation Johan Forssell and Estonian Minister of Economic Affairs and Information Technology Tiit Riisalo.
