President Alar Karis is in London today and tomorrow, where he will be meeting with His Majesty King Charles III and taking part in an international conference focussing on the rebuilding of Ukraine. His visit is also designed to further economic relations with the United Kingdom and to promote closer cooperation between Estonian and British entrepreneurs.

President Karis will be meeting with King Charles III at Windsor Castle this morning.

Thereafter he will give the opening address at an Estonian-British business seminar and the international risk capital and innovation conference Global Corporate Venturing Symposium. He will also be hosting Estonian companies and British investors and partners at a reception later this evening. The business delegation accompanying President Karis to London includes the companies Vegvisir Defensphere, Bioforce Group, Bioforce, Complok, GScan, Roofit Solar, Nortal, Mifundo/Codelive and Chaga and representatives of the Defence Estonia Cluster and Enterprise Estonia/Kredex.

Tomorrow President Karis will be giving an address at a conference focussing on support for Ukraine, including raising investments for and getting the private sector involved in its rebuilding. The head of state says that Estonia will support Ukraine in this regard, and indeed is already doing so, with the country’s private sector showing a great deal of interest in contributing to it. “A lot of Estonian companies have been operating in Ukraine for years and are willing to share their experience of doing so at the European level,” he said.

The conference will be attended by heads of state and government and representatives of major companies and international, economic and financial organisations. The Estonian companies Nortal and BLRT Group, which are active in Ukraine, and representatives of the Estonian Woodhouse Association and the defence industry cluster who accompanied the head of state on his visit to Ukraine in early June will be taking part in the conference.

Tomorrow evening President Karis will be speaking at a showcase of Estonian education technology companies which will be attended by British school associations, education companies and investors in the education sector. The event is being held as part of London EdTech Week, which will see the involvement of the Estonian companies Navicup, SpeakTX, Kideocall, Endurae, Futuclass, Praktikal, Edumus, Key2enable Assistive Technology and Triumf Health.

The head of state will be returning to Estonia on Thursday.
