At his meeting with the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, President Alar Karis acknowledged Montenegro’s efforts in the EU accession negotiations and noted that Estonia is a staunch supporter of EU enlargement.

“Estonia’s historical experience allows us to be one of the strongest advocates of EU enlargement,” President Karis said. “This week’s Lennart Meri Conference in Tallinn will provide an opportunity to make this voice of support even stronger.”

In addition to the enlargement of the European Union, the presidents discussed the international security situation, digital cooperation, connections and the promotion of tourism.

Today, the Estonian Head of State will meet with the Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama in Kadriorg, and tomorrow with the President of Moldova Maia Sandu.

On Friday, President Karis will attend the opening of the Lennart Meri Conference and, as the patron of the conference, will host a dinner in honour of the guests at the National Library.

On Saturday, President Alar Karis will open a discussion on the resilience of small states at the Lennart Meri Conference (“Building Forward: Small but Resilient”). The discussion will be attended by the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatović, the President of Moldova Maia Sandu, the Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan Ayman Safadi, and the Director of the Finnish Institute of International Relations Hiski Haukkala. The debate will be moderated by Sylvie Kauffmann, journalist at Le Monde. Photos: Raigo Pajula/Office of the President of the Republic https://flic.kr/s/aHBqjCTYH7
