President Kaljulaid explained that the development of the e-state and a digital society in Estonia have always been directed by the people and the state must only ensure their security. "And once you start, there is no going back from a digital society," said the Head of State.
The gender pay gap was also covered, and both the Estonian Head of State and Christine Lagarde agreed that this is a subject that requires more public awareness.
They also discussed the fact that in the light of globalisation, it is time to start thinking about what kinds of effects future work will have on our societies.
President Kersti Kaljulaid is on a work visit to the United States and will take part in the World Bank and World Health Organization conference today, where she will talk about the experience of universal health insurance in Estonia.
