Receiving the Ambassador, the President said that Estonia and Norway have been good neighbours for a thousand years already, that the barriers created during the fifty years of Soviet occupation are fading away, and that the meetings of Baltic and Nordic ministers are no longer called ''five plus three'', but are now known as ''the eight''.
President Meri also thanked the Ambassador's spouse Suzanne Lie for her support to the activities of the Centre of Female Studies of Estonia.
