French, Finnish and Paraguayan ambassadors present letters of credentials to President Karis

Ambassadors Alexandre Escorcia of France, Hannu Heinonen of Finland and Ramón Fernando Acosta Díaz of Paraguay presented their letters of credentials to President Alar Karis in Kadriorg today.
During his meeting with the French ambassador, President Karis spoke about the close relations between Estonia and France and about strengthening defence cooperation, thanking France for its permanent presence in Estonia. The discussions also focused on options for boosting economic ties and enhancing cooperation in the digital, defence and energy sectors, as well as on Europe’s responsibility for its own security. The head of state highlighted the growing interest among Estonian school students in learning French.
In his meeting with Finland’s new ambassador to Estonia, President Karis described relations between their two countries as close and neighbourly, adding that this special bond has been reinforced by the state visits that have taken place in recent years. The head of state welcomed the expanded cooperation that is taking place between the Nordic and Baltic countries. The discussions centred on bolstering defence cooperation and links within the defence industry, as well as joint infrastructure and energy connections. President Karis emphasised that Finland joining NATO had enhanced security in the region.
During his meeting with the Paraguayan ambassador, President Karis said that despite the geographical distance between their two countries, Estonia and Paraguay were united by shared values and their support for a rules-based world order. The head of state responded positively to Paraguay’s interest in strengthening cooperation, particularly in the digital and cyber sectors. Paraguay is also interested in Estonia’s experience of building up its e-government.
