President Kaljulaid is attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York

President Kersti Kaljulaid is on a working visit to New York to attend the annual United Nations General Assembly. In addition to bilateral meetings with other heads of state and participation in various debates, the President of the Republic will address the General Assembly on Tuesday evening at 9 pm Estonian time.

The Head of State will in addition attend several UN General Assembly side events. During the week, President Kaljulaid will attend a high-level climate summit, address future work at the summit organized by the International Labour Organization and the Ford Foundation, speak at the Atlantic Council debate on the future of Europe, speak at the UN Women Leaders' Council. The Head of State will also speak at the gathering of the Every Woman Every Child (EWEC) movement – from last September president Kaljulaid is the co-chair of the UN-led movement led by the UN Secretary General.

In addition, there are a number of bilateral meetings with leaders of other countries, where the main topic is co-operation with the UN Security Council during the Estonian membership, as well as digital and cyber topics. The Head of State will meet with the Presidents of Costa Rica, Moldova, Poland, Somalia and Chile, as well as the Prime Minister of India, and will participate in the reception given by the President of the United States.

The United Nations has 193 countries and its General Assembly meets in regular session from mid-September to mid-December.

President Kaljulaid will return to Estonia on Friday afternoon.
