President Kersti Kaljulaid is on a work visit to Warsaw to meet with the presidents of NATO's eastern flank countries and participate in celebrations organised to mark the 100th anniversary of the independence of Poland.

President Kersti Kaljulaid will today attend the Presidential Palace with her Bulgarian, Lithuanian, Latvian, Romanian, Slovakian and Hungarian counterparts for the official welcoming ceremony hosted by the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda. This will be followed by a meeting of the presidents, at which issues related to the security of NATO's eastern flank will be discussed. The format, known as Bucharest 9, was established in 2014 and is used to discuss security matters important for the region. The Head of State will also participate in a panel of presidents of the Bucharest 9 organised by the Polish Institute of National Affairs and the German Marshall Fund, which is being held prior to the 2018 NATO Summit in Brussels conference.

The planned events include a bilateral meeting with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis. In the evening, President Kersti Kaljulaid will take part in a concert at the Royal Theatre to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Poland's independence.

The Head of State will return to Estonia on Saturday.
