President Kaljulaid on working visit to the United States

President Kersti Kaljulaid departs today on a working visit to the United States of America, where she will be attending a World Bank and World Health Organization (WHO) conference and the Sedona Forum of the McCain Institute.

At the World Bank and WHO conference being held on Friday 20 April the Head of State will be giving an overview of Estonia's experience of universal health insurance.

President Kaljulaid will also be meeting with International Monetary Fund (IMF) managing director Christine Lagarde to discuss Estonia's digital society. While in Washington, D.C. the Head of State, in cooperation with the Art Museum of Estonia and the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, will also be visiting the first personal exhibition of Estonian painter Michel Sittow (ca 1469-1525) curated for the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. The exhibition features rare works by the artist gathered together from museums and private collections all over the world.

From Washington President Kaljulaid will move on to Arizona, where she will be participating in the Sedona Forum of the McCain Institute (named after US Senator John McCain) on Saturday. The themes of this year's forum are Russia's development, human rights, the war on terror and the Middle East. The forum is primarily aimed at American politicians and security experts.

Meetings are also planned with US Department of State Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations Kurt Volker and Freedom House director Michael Abramowitz.

The Head of State will be returning to Estonia on Tuesday afternoon.
