The Head of State met with fans of literature in Berlin

Last night, a literary event took place at the Embassy of the Republic of Estonia in Berlin, including the presentation of a book by Aija Sakova entitled "Väljakaevamine ja mäletamine. Mälutöö ja moraalse tunnistamise mõttepildid Christa Wolfi ja Ene Mihkelsoni romaanides." (Ausgraben und Erinnern. Denkbilder des Erinnerns und der moralischen Zeugenschaft im Werk von Ene Mihkelson und Christa Wolf / Excavation and Remembering. Mental Pictures of Memory Work and Moral Recognition in Novels by Christa Wolf and Ene Mihkelson). This was the adapted version of a doctoral thesis that was defended in University of Tartu in 2014.

The Head of State, who is currently on a two-day working visit to Berlin, greeted the Estonian community and friends of Estonia who attended the presentation, including leaders and members of the Society for Estonian Culture in Berlin, as well as representatives of Estonian House and the German-Estonian Society of Berlin.

"I am pleased to learn that Estonians are interested in German culture and vice versa. Cultural ties between countries are highly important and are largely supported by leaders of cultural societies and local Estonians who are interested in culture. Your contribution is important," said President Kaljulaid.
