President Kaljulaid met with the CEO of Raytheon International, a defence industry enterprise

President Kersti Kaljulaid met today in Kadriorg with John Harris, CEO of Raytheon International, a defence enterprise. "Close business co-operation between Estonia and the USA is as important as co-operation of a political or military nature," said President Kaljulaid.

The promotion of global strategic cyber defence as one of the most important security related challenges was discussed at the meeting. A joint effort will focus on innovative and meaningful ideas that are 10-20 years ahead of their time. Estonia offers a working platform for that purpose while Raytheon International has the required experiences and skills.

Raytheon International is the world's 3rd or 4th largest defence industry enterprise with a market value of around 40 billion US dollars and annual turnover of 23 billion US dollars. The enterprise employs 61,000 people and has operations in 80 countries. Estonia has been a significant client of the enterprise in the region. We have bought radars and recently a Javelin anti-tank system from the company.
