President Kaljulaid to make her first foreign visits to neighbouring states


President Kersti Kaljulaid will embark on one-day introductory visits to Finland, Latvia and Lithuania during October.

This Thursday, President Kaljulaid will visit Helsinki to meet with the President of the Republic of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, and Chairwoman of the Parliament, Maria Lohela. From Finland, the Head of State will proceed to Riga to meet the President of the Republic of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis, and Speaker of the Parliament, Ināra Mūrniece.

The Estonian and Lithuanian heads of state will meet on 26 October in Vilnius.

"Close regional co-operation between the Nordic and Baltic states is becoming more and more important in view of the challenges that Europe is facing. Our closest countries are also our biggest allies," said President Kaljuland in explaining her first visits to the neighbouring countries.
